Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are some of the hardest-working people in healthcare. These employees are tasked with keeping patients comfortable and healthy, ultimately keeping healthcare facilities running smoothly. Their responsibilities are physically and mentally demanding, from bathing and feeding to ambulation to wound care. Unfortunately, CNAs don’t get their due respect in the field. While nurses and doctors are celebrated as heroes, the hard work of CNAs often goes unrecognized. Thankfully, we’ve made strides toward fixing that by establishing a CNA week every June, which gives you a chance to honor all your hardworking CNAs.
Here are four fun ways to celebrate CNA Week 2023:
Promote CNA Week 2023
Put up signs, post on social media, and mark CNA week on the company calendar so the rest of your staff knows it’s happening. This’ll make the holiday a facility-wide celebration and ensure your CNAs get appreciation from all directions.
Get your community involved
A great way to show off your hardworking CNAs is to honor them in the local community. Consider having them participate in a job fair, speak at a high school, or attend a town board meeting. Put them on the pedestal they deserve and praise their accomplishments far and wide.
Have a dress-up week
Turn CNA week into an old-school spirit week with daily dress-up themes. Better yet, let your CNAs pick their theme to show off their favorite workday outfits. This is a whimsical way to lighten the mood and let your staff showcase their creativity.
Host an off-duty celebration
Whether it’s a simple potluck, a bowling night, or a baseball game, gathering your CNAs together for a night of work-free fun is a great way to show them you care about them as MORE than just employees. They’re your work family, and you couldn’t do it without them.
